If you're like most people, that the land on the East side trusts the Chesapeake Bay, if you hear the term "Eastern Shore", think "Maryland." But it is a little tail of land - some 40 miles long and wide - a few miles hang before the Delmarva (the Delaware, Maryland and Virginia) Peninsula, which belongs to the great Commonwealth of Virginia. Not that Virginians assault on this part of their State, 20 miles in the Chesapeake Bay at its next, either to embrace. The most famous of the eastern shore of Virginia is Chincoteague Island and its famous ponies frolic in the surf of the Atlantic. But this is a large washout for dog owners - dogs are not allowed in Chincoteauge (though a bit further along the coast at Assateague Maryland, you get the same experience). But there is no reason for active dog owners is too hasty to route 13 but the East coast of Virginia plowing.
The eastern shore of Virginia national wildlife refuge is only about the remarkable Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. In drag and take a look at it - is dog friendly. About is three miles on the road, on the Chesapeake side of the peninsula of the beautiful Kiptopeke State Park. The site was bought by the Virginia Ferry Corporation for the Northern Terminus of the Virginia Beach on the East coast ferry. In 1949, when the terminus was moved from Cape Charles, the website Kiptopeke Beach by the younger brother of the King of the Accawmack Indians named, who was a friend of early settler in the area. Kiptopeke means "Big Water." In 1950 the endpoint opened Pier, as the world's largest and most modern ferry terminal after a $2.75 million.
Through more than four miles of fun this bayside Park routes for your dog. The Bay page trail documents by a Highland hardwood on large old forest roads and connects with extensive sandy beaches through an extensive network of wooden boardwalks through the dunes. South Beach is perfect for a walk, but note character set of the special Habitat area, which is closed to visitors. Cycle paths are paths available along the Park Road and the Raptor, Songbird, chickadee and Mockingbird.
It is fantastic swimming for your dog on the beach, the Eastern Chesapeake Bay. Less adventurous type ships placed offshore as breakwater dogs a chance to play in gentle waves.
Since 1963, Kiptopeke is the site of the bird population studies. Sponsored by the coast of Virginia Wildlife Observatory, formerly known as KESTRSAL, and the U.S. fish and wildlife capture service, voluntary, examine, weigh, band and version are resident and migratory birds each year from mid-August to November. Observed in the focus of Raptor, falcons, Kestrels, eagles and other birds of prey and connected from September to November. Kiptopeke of the Hawk Observatory is among the top 15 nationwide.
And for those who not only on the East coast of Virginia to stop, but want to stay a while, are dogs on the campsite for a fee of $3.
