Cumberland falls is located west of Corbin, Kentucky (birthplace of Kentucky Fried chicken) and is the largest waterfall on the Cumberland River. The thundering water of Cumberland falls are known as the "Niagara of the South", 65 feet high and 125 feet wide. When the Cumberland river flood is the width of the falls can expand quickly at 300 yards. The view is dramatic during the day but that is really special at night.
On clear, moonlit nights during a full moon rises a Moonbow over the River below the falls. This is the only place in the Western Hemisphere, where this phenomenon occurs on, and only at Victoria falls in Africa is to be duplicated. This really awesome view takes place only two days before and two days after the night full moon. This month and next, which is the data from the 16 to 20.
Most visitors will watch built in Cumberland falls State Resort Park Visitor Center the Moonbow from the viewing platforms. But adventurous canine hikers on the other side of the river walk, where trail 9 offers some of the most beautiful views of the falls. 1.5 Miles of this natural surface way seems harmless enough, but if you run all trail 9 your dog know that he has had a training.
Over half a mile from the starting point you get a view of the Cumberland gorge below the falls. Next comes a level of incentive on the river level and takes his way through the rocks to Adler, a Hydrospectacular worthy in its own right, falling from a side stream in the Cumberland. Your dog might be in the pool here to play, so you start again no hurry. The upper path going Eagle Creek upstream the hike in a spectacular forest is very robust on a ridge. The loop closes to Cumberland falls before the reach, so that your dog one last look before a well-deserved return for your car.
